The Eaton County Fair was established in the 1900's. In 1930 the fairgrounds closed and then was reopened in 1931 when Hans E. The Animals in the Barns and the overall fun of being at the fair. Who founded the fairgrounds? Hans E. Kardel. Who funds the fair? The the Eaton County Fairgrounds is funded by the City of Charlotte but gets a very large amount of its funding from farm families and other generous people wanting to see the fair stay open and working for years to come. What barn/building is the oldest? Kardel Hall. What are some renovations that have happened or are going to be done to the fairgrounds? Renovations to the inside of the Kardel Hall building have recently happened and is now being rented out for all kinds of events throughout the year. The 4-H food shack has recently gotten upgraded in the past year and is really starting to look nice. How old is the fair? They just celebrated the 84th year of the fair being reopened. How many participants have there been in the fair over the years? The fair has had thousands of kids participate though fair in the years past. How did the fair originally get started? One of Hans E. Kardel’s greatest achievements was reopening the Eaton County Fairgrounds which was closed up in 1930 and reopened in 1931 by Hans E. Kardel under the Eaton County 4-H Agricultural Society membership of several hundred boys and girls. Who is involved with the fair? Fair Board members. The community. The Kardel’s.
