Oak Park is a neighborhood park located at Seminary and Clinton Streets. The park includes established canopy trees throughout. Half the park includes lawn area centered about a gazebo. Playground amenities include a modular play structure, metal climbers, swing sets, and other play equipment. Oak Park was named for its outstanding Oak trees many of which are believed to date back to very early in Charlotte's history. The park is used by many families, The Charlotte Public Library, and several churches still today.
The old stone fountain was erected during the nineteenth century and is still standing today

History as a CemeteryThe Park was also the original site of Charlotte's first cemetery. During construction of the park, graves were exhumed and moved to a new site at what is now Maple Hill cemetery. Due to the condition and age of some of the grave sites, many remains were not able to be recovered.
