Francis Flaherty was one of America's true heroes during the open hours of World War 2. His act of bravery was deliberate and self-less. Real heroes are people who help other people. Sometimes at the risk or cost of their own lives. To a certain extent all members of our armed forces are heroes. Some are just put into a position where they end up being more heroic than others.
