Charlotte Fire Department Timeline
- October 8th, 1872 - The Charlotte Fire Department was established.
- 1872 - No. 3 Silsby steam fire engine was purchased by the City of Charlotte.
- 1898 - Henry Stoner became a full time driver for the department.
- 1900 - The city of Charlotte bought another fir team and 2 full-time drivers.
- 1908-9 - The eastern half of the Fire Department building was constructed.
- 1915 - A show was presented to the town to create enthusiasm about getting a new truck.
- 1916-24 - Sam Robinson and Chas. Lane alternated serving as the State Fire Marshal.
- 1924-37 - Chas. Lane became became assistant State Fire Marshall and Chief of the Fire Marshal division.
- Sam Robinson was State Fire Marshal until 1937. - 1963-2 - Full time fire captains and drivers alternated every 24 hours. 26 volunteer firefighters were on staff at the time.
