Inspiration:
Brock's dad inspired him, not just in football, but in life. His dad taught him that your best effort is the only thing that's acceptable.
"The word can't is not in your vocabulary". -John Gutierrez
I asked Brock what is it about football? Like what is it that makes you happy to play. His response was because it's a team game, where you rely on your teammates to succeed. It's the accountability, dedication, and the physicality of it. The challenge of having to be better than the guy across from you.

Sports:
Brock began playing football in the 5th grade, during his adolescent years his ambitions were that he wanted to go to college, wrestle or play football, and then become a state trooper. He played football and wrestled through out school. He ended up setting a handful of records in high school while wrestling. In 1990 his football team had the best season record as a team. In high school, Brock played offensive and defensive line, once he got in college he began playing center, and when he went pro he kept playing center. I asked Brock if he always wanted to go pro, he told me that when he was younger he did, but as he got older things began to change. He also put in that of course, isn't playing the game and going pro what everyone wants? Brock's still involved in football, he is currently Central Michigan Universities analyst for the radio network there.

Deciding College:
Central Michigan University ended up offering Brock a football scholarship, and this was when no one else wanted him, so Brock had a verbal commitment to attend CMU. Michigan State University and the University of Michigan both ended up offering him wrestling scholarships after he ended up giving his verbal commitment to CMU. His dad reminded him about honoring his word and the commitment towards CMU. To this day Brock said that is why he attended CMU instead of MSU or U of M. Brock went by the saying "All a man's truly got in life is his word, without that your nothing."
